Generally, they go a long ways south, like Baja or the Gulf for instance.
Bald Eagles have been known to kill osprey. Shorelines that are well
stocked with nesting Bald Eagles usually have few or no nesting pairs
of ospreys. This may be an indication that they are not very compatible
or it may indicate some subtle differences in habitat affinities.
Despite my belief that the two species don't get along, I have seen
exceptions. At Cornet Bay in Deception Pass State Park, I remember
osprey nesting within spitting distance of an active Bald Eagle
nest. I don't know whether or not the eagles might ended up feeding baby
osprey (osplets) to their young.
