Hi Barry and Tweets -
On Thursday, the 5th, I was playing tour guide on Orcas for visiting
friends and we saw large numbers of Hooded Mergansers spread out on
different lakes - more than I've ever seen in the four years I've lived
here. Must have been 25 on one lake and usually a high would be 5 or 6
(They do breed on Orcas). Maybe we both just caught a day when they came
down on their migration route to regroup. It will be interesting to see if
we have a larger than usual number wintering here this year.
