One of my Idaho bretheren inquired about a good gull guide. I can highly
recommend "Gulls: a guide to identification" by P.J. Grant, published by T &
AD Poyser Ltd. I believe a second edition has recently been published. I'm
not sure if ABA carries this book but you can check their web site
(www.americanbirding.org). I got mine from Buteo books - they have a web
site which I don't have at the moment.

This is the best gull guide that I know of with special emphasis on all ages
and seperating similar species. There may be some other good guides coming
out. Also I have heard that John Dunn's video on identifying the larger
gulls is very good and am planning to get that. It is available from ABA Sales.
