You are a much better birder than me. I'm still learning to ID by
sight and am getting better by sound, but have not even attempted
to ID them by their gaseous releases.

So those of you who wish to continue, please use specific references
to support your point, rather than nasty attacks without evidence.

What has this to do with bird skins? Only that I hope the combatants
in that discussion have a sense of humor and a thick skin, a skin
as thick as a JUNCO.

MrBargello (naughty cat) got out this morning, heard a thumping in
the back hall, he had brought in a junco. He was playing with it
and batting it, lots of feathers. I immediately rescued it.

It was immobile, either in shock or playing dead, but it's eyes
were blinking. I checked him/her out very very carefully, it was
quite calm. No apparent broken wings, legs, no punctures that
I could find, just some feather loss (hopefully).

A few minutes later, it took off from the porch! :)
bad kitty gets his outside privileges taken away for another 8 years.

It would be nice to post a parody at this point of a conversation
between the cat and the bird, but it would infuriate someone.

Jesus was pretty tough-skinned, direct and a realist.
Perhaps it's not what you believe in, but how you believe.
