Hmmm,

I would definately have to go with Franklin's. Franklin's have a
slightly lighter colored wing for starters. Did you notice anything
about the wing tips? That would tell you right there. Franklin's Gull
has a white, black, white pattern whereas Laughing has just a long dark
smudge.

Which one is more common here? Franklins. I have seen them at Discovery
Park, and at the Everett Sewage ponds. Further, I have never heard of a
Laughing Gull in Washington (till I looked in my field guide and it said
they were accidental).
