The Washington BirdBox is a voice mailbox sponsored by the Washington
Ornithological Society. To leave a report about a notable sighting or to
listen to the most recent reports from other birders, call (425) 454-2662 and
follow the prompts.
To place a message on the BirdBox via email: send the message as
you want it read to Hal Opperman, halop at accessone.com with a cc to the person
who is transcribing at the time. This is a service to those living in the long
distance calling area. It may involve a delay in getting the message on the
phone as most of us do not monitor our email constantly.

BirdBox checked Sunday, November 9, about 8 PM.

Saturday, November 7, 5:18 PM. Hello, this is Stephen Mlodinow. Today Jim
Flynn and I did our Whidbey to Skagit Game Range loop. We got 110 species and
amazingly managed to almost totally miss getting anything unusual. The one
bird of interest was a ROCK SANDPIPER in a flock of DUNLIN at Crockett Lake on
the mud flats there. That's about it. Good luck and good birding.

Saturday, November 7, 10:53 PM. This is Barry Levine (206) 526-8676. I would
like to report a flock of 132 HOODED MERGANSERS seen today on Whidbey Island
by myself and Richard Struve. The birds were located at Ebey's Landing,
specifically the lagoon area. Park at the parking lot at Ebey's Landing and
walk down the beach to your right, a little over a mile, and the birds were
seen on the right. Good luck.

Saturday, November 7, 11:08 PM. Hello, this is Bruce LaBar (253)
272-1058. Today, out at Ocean Shores we had a field trip and, at Ocean Shores,
we had 2 SNOW BUNTINGS right at the jetty, calling and came real close to us.
We also had a probable SHORT-TAILED SHEARWATER flying by at the jetty along
with a couple of OLDSQUAWS and lots of loons and a good array of birds. We
also birded Bill's Spit and we had a juvenile BAR-TAILED GODWIT along with
maybe 20 MARBLED GODWITS, 10 LONG-BILLED CURLEWS. We had excellent looks at
the bird. I thought I would pass all that along. Good luck and good birding.
