This is Kas Dumroese with the northern Idaho / eastern Washington /
northeastern Oregon bird hotline.

BLUE JAYS. Starting in Latah Co., Idaho. One BLUE JAY was at
Robinson Park, about 5 miles northeast of Moscow on November 1
according to Charles Swift. Charles had another just east of the new
arboretum on the University of Idaho campus in University Heights on
November 3. Look west of US 95, south of Taylor, and north of Ridge
for this rascal. On the Washington side, Mike and MerryLynn Denny had
one BLUE JAY at their feeder in College Place, Walla Walla Co.,
Washington on November 4 and Mike believes there are 9-10 BLUE JAYS in
Walla Walla..

A single TRUMPETER SWAN was at US 12 milepost 300 in western Walla
Walla Co., Washington on October 31 according to Mike and MerryLynn.
The bird was in McNary Pool, which is on the west side of US 12. WA
DeLorme.40, D-1. Just a little south of McNary Pool, at the Walla
Walla River Delta, the Denny's saw a single GREATER WHITE-FRONTED
GOOSE. The delta is just north of the junction of US 12 and US 730.

Two TUNDRA SWANS, two AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS, and two LONG-BILLED
DOWITCHERS were at Mann Lake, near Lewiston, Nez Perce Co., Idaho on
November 5 according to Deb Beutler. Also there was a single GREATER
WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE. To get there from the north side of Lewiston,
take US 12 across the river and take the first left toward East
Lewiston, and immediately turn left on to East Main Street. Follow it
to the blinking yellow light and turn right onto Lapwai (aka Lindsay
Creek) Road. Follow Lindsay Creek until it ends at Grelle Avenue.
Turn left onto Grelle, and just after Grelle makes a sharp right turn,
turn left onto Powers Avenue. Follow Powers straight to the
reservoir, about 1.3 miles. ID DeLorme 54, A-1. The sparrows were
just below the old green outhouse.

Dale Goble reports 17 very tame GRAY-CROWNED ROSY FINCHES were
northeast of Moscow, Latah Co. Idaho on October 31. The birds were on
Moscow Mt. along Tamarack Road, just below the defunct Tamarack Ski
Area.

I added a new yard bird this past week here in Moscow. Four PINE
GROSBEAKS were eating hawthorn berries last Sun, November 1. I could
not relocate them the next day.
