Subject: Goldeneyes & "mystery" loon

There were two male Barrow's Goldeneyes at the Shilshole Marina Sunday
morning, the first I've seen in Ballard (NW Seattle) this fall. Also
present, 8 Horned Grebes, 2 Pied-billed Grebes and 3 Belted Kingfishers,
sex unknown.

Near the A pier was a loon, the plumage resembled the mystery bird I
posted about the other day, mottled swirled brown and white with a very
pale almost yellow bill. The bill resembled a Common Loon in size and
shape, but I'm not familiar with transitional loon plumages... (This bird
was three times the size of the previous mystery bird.)
