Dear Tweeters:

A number of people have asked me where John Neville's CD on Birds of the
Okanagan is available. Libor mentioned that it was available at the Osprey
Nest in Nelson, but since Libor left Nelson the Osprey Nest has closed its
doors and John Neville has retired to Saltspring Island. I know Tumbleweed
Nature Store in Penticton (250-492-7742) carries the CD, or you could call
John Neville directly at 250-537-8842. His fax number is 250-537-4121 and
his new address is 138 Castle Cross, Ganges, BC, V8K 2G2. I don't know
what he charges for CDs he sells directly. He also has CDs of bird songs
from the Canadian Rockies and the Kootenays.

For those who don't know John, he's incredible to work with in the field,
since he's completely blind, but strides off fearlessly into the bush to
chase down birds for recording. It's particularly unnerving when recording
owls at night, since I'm so tied to my flashlight when bushwhacking in the
dark! He's got a great story about being in the middle of a cattle
stampede while recording Brewer's Sparrows near Osoyoos, too.

Cheers,
Dick Cannings
