>From the comfort of our living room we watched a mature bald eagle try and
try to bag a duck ( not sure what kind) I believe the duck was hit but kept
diving as the eagle kept trying . Of course the odd gull had to get
involved. The hunt went on for some time , the eagle actually landing on the
water briefly several times. The eagle looked like it was leaving then
turned back and "splash down." It sat in the water for some minutes before
managing to take off ,we were so busy setting up the scope don't know
whether it took the duck with it or not. We had wondered if it would be
able to get up as it looked so low in the water. . Seems odd to see them
preying on ducks when just 1/2 mile away the creek has chum salmon spawning
with spent fish lying around. We saw an immature eagle take a widgeon a few
days ago just off the beach. .
