Gave up waiting for my turn at the Department of Licensing office in
Kirkland and headed over to Magnusson Park late this afternoon.

On my way west on the 520 bridge, I was passed by a flock of 10 SWANS flying
east. I couldn't get my binoculars on them, so I couldn't tell Tundra vs.
Trumpeter. Any ideas as to which would be more likely?

At Magnusson park, my first bird (after Rock Dove) was a Northern Shrike. I
also flushed a Common Snipe, but I didn't see a whole lot there in the
fading light.

In previous winters there has been a Short-eared Owl at NOAA. Has anyone
seen one this winter? I fear that with the dog-area path having been
developed along the edge of NOAA, that owls will find the area too busy.
