Tweeters,
After reading a couple of comments on the issue of laridophobe to
laridophile I began thinking about when I switched over to the point of
laridophile and its probably the same for most people in a lot of
confusing families of avain life (i.e. peeps) I began to look at gulls not
as a hopelessly confusing family but rather as something that was a puzzle
for me, what species or unusual plummage is to be found in among the large
flock of gulls sitting on the lawn.
I really enjoy not immediately knowing what age or species I'm looking at
thus causing me to study it more and try to solve the puzzle. I think if
you're in this position of birding you can call yourself a laridophile or
peepophile, oops better what watch were you use that word ;). The real fun
of birding to me is the mystery of the unknown.
