HI all,
I'm wondering if anyone else has seen the Tree Sparrow on Spencer
Island that I've posted a couple of times? I'm beginning to think it
only comes out for me. I relocated it near the barn again on Wednesday
morning. It was feeding low in the grass on the North side of the trail
to the barn. I flushed it up and it flew into the Alders near there.
I also saw on Wednesday a gorgeous Peregrine Falcon hanging out on the
dead cottonwood trees at the East end of the crossdike. By the way,
they have refinished the surface of the crossdike and taken out the logs
that we had to walk around and over. They've put in gravel and rocks at
the base of the dike in an effort to repair it. The water level was
quite high when I was there but there was still a large flock of 40 or
more Long-billed Dowitchers sleeping on the high points South of the
Crossdike.
