I personally am happy that the Fish & Wildlife Service came to get the
bird. Hewitt Avenue has a lot of traffic, and I was concerned about the
owl being there. Everett is not a wildlife friendly city and Hewitt
Avenue is not a good place for any owl. To my way of thinking it is
better off in more suitable habitat. Of course, I'm glad I got to see
it before it was taken away - it was a life bird for me.

Yesterday, I noticed the downtown peregrine coming from very near the
tree the owl was roosting in. Guess it wanted to check out the owl
too. I know that peregrines take short-eared owls, and the spotted owl
wasn't that big.
