Tweeters,

I know it's tempting to think of all kinds of sinister motives
behind the capture of the Everett owl, but I believe the decision
was made because of a few simple facts that we are fortunate to have
because spotted owls have been intensively studied for nearly 20 years.

1) The owl was a juvenile.
2) Juvenile spotted owls tend to disperse in a pattern of fairly random
distance and direction.
3) Those that settle in cities, suburbs, or ag lands starve to death.

Since the spotted owl is an endangered species in Washington (threatened
under federal classification), it made sense to try to prevent the most
probable outcome of this bird's situation which was starvation.
