When the thread was brought up earlier this point was made and I'm glad it
was made again because its a very valid one. We do need to make it clear
to mayor Schell and the council that alternatives do exist that would
represent Seattle in a much more positive way.
I hardly think that when the the phrase "Emerald City" was stowed upon the
city they were referring to the night lights. Rather it refers to the
green trees all around us (though alot less than there used to be) and the
emerald waters of puget sound (those alot less clean then they used to
be). It is far better to spend the money helping to restore these
resources otherwise one day instead of being referred to as the emerald
city we get the name: the city that shines all night (thanks mayor schell
but I think I'll pass on that title). But we do need to send these
thoughts to the mayor and city council, I rather doubt that Schell is
reading tweeters.
