Russell (and others) are right, of course. However, if that was the reason,
then the statement that the capture was to check the bird's health was less
than honest. Also, does it send the message to non-fanatics that if you have
sensitive species (for example, where you want to log) then deportation is
an option? Does it send the message that we (?) are more interested in
individual birds than habitats? Finally, perhaps this was a missed
opportunity to use this individual for publicity to influence the people and
perhaps break down some barriers.
