Bob Mauritsen asked, "What's a wrist rocket? A thrown stone?"

More velocity, more accurate, and more lethal. A wrist rocket is a
"modernized slingshot" with a brace the fits up the arm to allow for a
stronger pull on the elastic with less strain/bend of the wrist. A
variety of objects (acorns, rocks, dirt wads . . . . thinking back to my
youth here) or even specifically sized ball bearings about the size of a
small marble can be used as ammunition.

I figure Clarice *really* dislikes Starlings. It seems to me that simple
"discouragement" would be difficult to achieve. Perhaps Clarice has an
approach that gets the point across without inflicting mortal wounds.
