Thanks for the many anti-squirrel suggestions. I'll give some a try when I
return from my Mom's in inner city Portland (oh well, at least she has
scrub jays!). I should add that when a raccoon began landscaping quite a
large area under one feeder I used a whole jar of Spice Islands cayenne but
it didn't do any good whatsoever (wrong brand?). Perhaps raccoon palates
are less sensitive than those of a squirrel!
