Tweets,

Just some background for those who are following this at all.
Mr. Wamer has a reputation. He is a fine and good and well respected
birder. He is also someone who once e-mailed me regarding a post I made
on BIRDCHAT concerning an anonymous individual who was sending nasty
messages to other BIRDCHATters in an attempt to control content...

"Get the f*ck off of bird chat,... your (sic) not wanted here you
arrogant a**hole" (Don B. can fill in the *'s ;-) )

I tried to communicate with him regarding his concerns, but he would not
reply to me. I forwarded his "threat" to the BIRDCHAT list owners at
the time (I've since dropped BIRDCHAT, I don't know who is moderating
the list now) and got a reply from one of them asking me to please
ignore Mr. Wamer's comments, and going on to say others had complained
about similar e-mails they had received from him.

Stick with us Joseph - people like Mr. Wamer simply aren't worth your
time. There will always be those who want to control just what the
content is on a given listserver. As a former owner of several I can
tell you that generally the philosophy of successful owners is anybody
should post anything THEY feel is relevant, civil behavior is nice - but
emotions are real, and the only thing that should generally not be
tolerated is intolerance (asking others not to post). That seems to
work well and foster a good, lively, and educational environment.

Mr Wamer's Threat to me of litigation was for slandering him. I am not
a person with any legal background, but generally understand that
slander is defined as making false and unproven allegations as to this
gentleman's character.
