Hi Jerry and Tweets,

I'm getting in on this belatedly since I've been gone, but the nice photos
sure say red-tailed hawk to me. One thing not mentioned, and which is
often pretty significant in a ferrug, is the size of the gape. The bird
looks to have a nice, neat redtail gape, not the large economy size usually
sported by ferruginous hawks.

One question: has anyone seen any turkey vultures in the I-5 area south of
Chehalis/Centralia? Thought I saw one driving back today, but at 70mph and
lots of traffic, maybe it was just a tippy redtail.

Also saw a GREAT EGRET at milepost 33, east side of freeway, standing in
the middle of a field. Haven't seen one along there before. Ridgefield
NWR was pretty quiet with lots of water *everywhere.*
