Hi All
Lots of signs that autumn is fading, and winter is approaching today. Along
my census route and nearby, mixed flocks of Black-capped Chickadees,
Chestnut-backed Chickadees, Brown Creepers and Golden-crowned Kinglets are
becoming larger and more common. The Mallard and Common Goldeneye numbers
seem to continue to rise, but the American Wigeons have peaked. The
surprising lingerers included a Northern Pintail and a Pied-billed Grebe.
Some pleasant sightings were Horned Grebes(2), a Red-tailed Hawk, and a
Townsend Solitaire.
