Saw our first Pileated Woodpecker in years late this afternoon while
driving north on 1st Ave S near 164th St in Burien, King County, WA.

We noticed the large woodpecker-like bird as it flew across the road in
front of us and landed on top of a utility pole. The size and bright red
crest were brilliantly back-lit but the setting sun and left no doubt to
its identity!

We'lre looking forward to seeing it again, as we live in the area. Have any
other Burienite Birdwatchers seen this bird in the area?
