Well, Capitol Hill in Seattle might not have it's Snowy but
today,Sat., 11-28, at about 1:00pm I was planting bulbs at the Thomas Street
P-Patch when a great hubbub occured in the East side neighbors' lilacs, they
have set out many feeders and with the new garden a variety of birds have
been coming to the area, 10th Street and Thomas. Well, a young
wk( overall light grey streaky. with white tip tail with dark bar, light
color eyes) tried to catch a "rock dove", he/she? only got a talon full of
feathers, the "rock dove" headed due North, the hawk after crashing through
the lilacs retired to the East fence and picked at the feathers still stuck
in it's talons. He/she then gave me a baleful glance , flew off to the
South where soon some seagulls could be heard mewing loudly. There had been
reports of "bird feathers" found on the site, we had blamed the neighborhood
cat, Charlotte, ( I never believed it was her, I watched a wren tease her to
climb out on the tiniest of braches and then fly off at the last minute and
tweeter loudy as the cat fell to the ground). Many bulbs planted , a sunny
day in November and quite the side-show!
