Tweets,
Yesterday while scouting for my area on the Port Gamble CBC, on the upper
Toandos peninsula (south of Hwy. 104 just on the west side of the Hood
Canal bridge, area which is owned by Pope resources), we stopped and
talked to a person who mentioned that we had seen quite a few "robins with
blue backs" just up the road. I told him that they were probably Varied
Thrushes, not thinking of other possibilities. Boy was I wrong! As we
ventured up the road we discovered that these "robins with blue backs"
were in fact Western Bluebirds and I counted at least ten but there could
have easily been more. The area they were in looked like excellent
breeding habitat and I'm hoping they decide to stay around a few weeks
more as I would love to get these birds on the CBC tally. I am not aware
of Western Bluebirds wintering in Western Washington, does anybody have
any information of "resident" bluebirds in Western WA?
Thanks,
