Subject: Snow Goose flock in central Idaho

Tweets,

This afternoon on the way home from Boise I had a large (for this area)
flock of 700+ Snow Geese in a field near Grangeville, ID which is the
north-central part of the state. The flock also contained a number of Ross'
Geese, at least 10 that I could pick out in the fading light. This seems
like a large number of what is a relatively uncommon (both Snow and Ross')
species up here this late in fall. So my question is where did these birds
come from? And my best guess is that they are Great Basin birds blown east
of their normal route through eastern WA/OR. Are there still Snow Geese
passing through WA now?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Charles.
