TWEETS,
We have an alder down by Salt Creek where birds like to perch. On two
occasions while perching on it I have seen a COOPER'S HAWK fan its wings and
tail out for a prolonged period. This lasted long enough that I was able to
get the scope out and get a great look at each feather. I presumed it was
drying out or warming up but I don't think the sun was out. I know vultures do
that and I thought it was to warm up. Why haven't we heard from the hawk
experts on this interesting behavior?
