Subject: Louisiana Waterthrush near Salem, OR

I was just perusing the Tweeters digest on Siler's page when I noticed
that no one had posted about the LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH at Silver Falls
State Park just east of Salem, Oregon. The bird was discovered on
Thanksgiving day by John and Cindy Lawes and has been seen every day since
including today (11/30).

The bird is hanging out along the creek: once
in the park, go to the North Falls Parking Lot (not the North Falls
Viewpoint). GO over the footbridge next to the lot and start looking.
The bird has been seen along the creek between the North Falls and the
footbridge, along the trail marked Rim Trail above the creek, along the
road just above the Rim Trail (feeding along the edge), and along the
gated road about 200 yards above the parking area (south).

As it is a Waterthrush, sometimes it's shy, but it has been frequenting
the trail a lot, allowing very good looks. This is a first state record
for Oregon and may be the bird of the year in a year where there have been
at least 7 first Oregon records (you know, those bristle-thighs were
everywhere ;) ).

Sorry I hadn't noticed the lack of posting before this.
