Tweets,

Like everyone else I'm starting to see fall migrants in my yard (neighborhood)
and at my feeders. Just had a nice selection of birds at the feeders..only to
have them scatter when a MERLIN flew through the yard. They reassembled
shortly later when the air was clear. Included in the flock were: a NORTHERN
FLICKER, a couple of GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS, 15-20 GOLDFINCH, HOUSE FINCH,
JUNCOS, MOURNING DOVE, 2 RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS, STARLINGS, a STELLERS JAY,
and the stars of the show, 8-10 EVENING GROSBEAKS.

I didn't record any EVENING GROSBEAKS in the yard the last two years as fall
migrants, so this was exciting.

Didn't see any RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES, BLACK CAPPED OR CHESTNUT-BACKED
CHICKADEES, or SONG SPARROWS, but they were here earlier this week, so things
are looking up for the local bird population.

Now it is off to the Ellensburg Canyon for some flyfishing. My bins and scope
go with me.

Have a great weekend!!!!
