Just got back from Desert Aire (on Columbia River between Priest Rapids and Wanapum dams). We expected to just play golf and relax but Sunday the weather turned out so nice (sunny, 75 and no wind) that we went boating on Priest Rapids lake. It really wasn't a briding trip (Ha!) but we took the binoculars just in case. We saw...

15 White Pelicans
3 Great Egrets
100+ DC Commorants
50 Mallards
Ring billed gulls - many juveniles
200 Coots
5 Western Grebes
2 Terns, not Caspian

Driving in the car we saw:

Coopers hawk
Several red tailed hawks including one juvenile
Swainson's hawk
Kestrel
Grouse, probably sharp tailed

Sitting on our porch:

150 Brewers Blackbirds
American Goldfinch
House Finch
Loggerhead Shrike
California Quail
Horned Lark
Meadow Lark
Killdeer
Raven

Last year about this time we saw a Brown Pelican and a Sabines Gull. No such luck this year.
