In response to Todd Tannery's inquiring about other piling over open water
locations, I know that the City of Poulsbo has just purchased Nelson Park in
Poulsboat the head of hte cove. It has several old bridge pilings still out
in the water/mud flat habitats. Contact me for directions and/or contacts at
the City for permission for installation.

Also, I don't recall if posts are present or not, but the natural area (I
beleive now owned by Vashon Land Trust) at Fern cove on the west side of
Vashon has wonderful saltwater/mini-esturary habitat on the west side of the
island. It would be ideal.

Keith Dublonica (tribal wildlfie biologist and fisheries expert) at the
Skokomish Tribe on Hood Canal may be interested in placing some boxes down on
the old Nalley Ranch site where the broken dikes are allowing a wonderful
self-restoring salt marsh to recover.

I am unaware how far north the Purple Martins are ranging (did range), however
the City of Port Angeles is restoring their in-town former logging pond into
estuarty habitat directly on the Straits. Limited intertidal habitat, but
some...'downtown' Port Angeles. There may also be opporunity at the John
Wayne Marina in Sequim and there are several (lots) of old piling and
structures capabile of hold next boxes on the southwest side of the bottom of
Discovery Bay (just west of Port Townsend cut-off from Hwy 101).
