The 'possum is native to the deep south...they are exotic in
the NW and everywhere else other than the south--thanks to
the migrating hordes of people on the move looking for work.
at least that's the popular myth about how they got here..
It's thought they were carried north as a food source for
the displaced southerners..
They keep appearing on TV and in ads asking for money so
they can be rehabbed to get back out there and destroy
nesting birds...the public really has no idea that damage
these animals can do in the environment..
along with the bull frog, nutria and occasional caiman
we find in Green Lake.
