Hello Tweeters:

Following is a note that I wrote to Wallis asking whether or not possums are
native to Washington State. He didn't know for sure, so I'm wondering if
anyone on Tweeters knows.

I'm a web foot Western Washington native, and I don't ever remember possum
around here in the 1930s and 1940s. Actually, I didn't start seeing them
until the 1980s when I was living in Everett and the number of road kills in
my residential neighborhood was amazing. They were all over the place.

My question is: Are these guys natives? And if not: How did they get here?

I'm simply curious, because I never even heard of them around here years ago.
