Three birds of interest at the Ballard Locks Sat. morning. A male Anna's
Hummingbird was visiting the fuschias just north of the admin. building.
I've seen some buzzing around over the summer, but this is the first I've
been able to ID.
Gliding well to the east was what i'd swear was a Turkey Vulture. I've
never seen one in Seattle before, but I guess this would be the time of
year to see them. It was making a slow circular glide north to south.

Third was an odd goose. It resembled the pictures of a Greater
White-fronted Goose but it was very pale brown with a lighter front. A
large orange bill with a dark demarcation, long orange legs and a big
white butt. It was quite a bit taller than the Canadas, as a matter of
fact when I first saw it I thought It was an odd colored heron, because
of the long legs and long neck. It had a very deep honk. I don't remember
if it had a white patch above the bill, sorry.

Still Herons, Kingfishers, Gulls, Terns, a few wigeons and lots of DC
Cormorants in the area. Every Piling down at the Martin nest box site had
a cormorant on it last week, 20 -30 some. I'm still waiting for my
favorite, the Goldeneyes, to return.
