Sightings on the 10/10/98 Protection Island Cruise by the Port Townsend
Marine Science Center are as listed below. Trip highlights included
observation of scores of Scoters and grebes, a Northern Harrier hunting the
ridge line on the south side of the island, approx. 500 harbor seals on the
north shore of Violet Spit and a solitary Elephant Seal on the point at
Violet Spit.

Future Protection Island Cruises are scheduled for Saturday, October 17,
24, 31 and Nov. 7th & 28 as well as Thursday, Dec. 31st; all departing from
Point Hudson Marina in downtown Port Townsend at 1 pm. Discounts apply for
