Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday October 15. If you have anything to add call
Harry Nehls at 233-3976.

A possible HAWK OWL was reported October 12 from Tillamook. It was seen
near 1605 Third Street, not far from the Tillamook Hospital.

The WILSON'S PLOVER continues to be seen at Bullards Beach State Park
north of Bandon.

A male COMMON GRACKLE was at Fields October 13. A female BLACK-THROATED
BLUE WARBLER has been in the Fields woods during the week.

A TROPICAL KINGBIRD was at Grand Island, north of Salem October 11. It
could not be relocated.

Up to 3 COSTA'S HUMMINGBIRDS are now visiting the feeder in Grants Pass
where the species has been seen for over two year. Another is still at
the Central Point feeder where it has been seen for over a year.

MEW GULLS, MERLINS, SHARP-SHINNED HAWKS, and thrushes were conspicuous
migrants during the week. The VIOLET-GREEN and BARN SWALLOW movement has
been heavy during the week, but most are now gone.

AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER, SAY'S PHOEBE, WESTERN KINGBIRD, and PALM WARBLERS
were near Cape Blanco October 13.

Eleven LAPLAND LONGSPURS were at the mouth of the Necanicum River at
Seaside October 11. Up to 60 are still about the South Jetty of the
Columbia River. Two PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVERS were there October 11.

Large numbers of PIED-BILLED GREBES are now in the Salem area. A
RED-NECKED GREBE, and WESTERN and HORNED GREBES are also being seen. A
CLARK'S GREBE was at Detroit Lake, east of Salem October 12.

An ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER was near the end of Royal Avenue at Fern Ridge
Reservior October 10. A late RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was near Fern Ridge at an
Elmira feeder October 14. A BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK has been at an Eugene
feeder during the week.

At least 40 SNIPES were at Cooper Creek Reservior, near Sutherlin October
10. Migrant BAND-TAILED PIGEONS were noted in the Rogue Valley October
11.

A BOREAL OWL was heard at the Squaw Spring Campground in the Blue
Mountains north of Tollgate October 9. A LONG-EARED OWL was near there
the next evening.
An immature FRANKLIN'S GULL was along the Columbia River near Boardman
October 9.

A PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER and a PECTORAL SANDPIPER was with 14
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS at Wickiup Reservior, south of Bend October 10.

Many migrants are still passing through Malheur NWR, including late
YELLOW and ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS. A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was at
Headquarters October 12. A late CHAT and a GOSHAWK were at Fields October
13.
