This is Kas Dumroese with the northern Idaho / eastern Washington /
northeastern Oregon bird hotline.

A BLUE JAY, the first reported this fall, was at the home of Dave
Holick at the base of Moscow Mountain, just north of Moscow, Latah
Co., Idaho on October 3 and 4. It's time to start looking for them in
Moscow.

Two winter-plumaged BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER were on Atkins Lake, Douglas
Co., Washington, according to Hugh Jennings. Atkins Lake is just
north of US 2 about 8 miles west of Coulee City. WA DeLorme p. 85,
CD-5.5. In the same general area, there was a drake EURASIAN WIDGEON
on Red Alkali Lake. This lake is southwest of Coulee City, and east
of Dry Falls. According to Hugh, the DeLorme has this lake and Green
Lake labeled backwards.

An immature going to first-winter plumaged MEW GULL was in the Spokane
Valley, WA on October 8 according to Jeff Wisman. Jeff saw the bird
in the parking lot between the East Sprague Cinema and the Peking
Palace Restaurant, cavorting with Ring-billeds. The address is East
11110 Sprague Avenue, about 1.3 miles east of Argonne Road. WA
DeLorme p. 89, C-6.

A single AMERICAN TREE SPARROW and a tan-striped WHITE-THROATED
SPARROW were both seen at Lyons Ferry State Park in the southeast
corner of Franklin Co., WA by Mike and MerryLynn Denny. The tree
sparrow was spied on October 5 and the white-throated today. Both
birds were in the vicinity of the causeway. This park is right in the
corner of Franklin, Whitman, Columbia and Walla Walla counties. WA
DeLorme p. 55, D-6.5.
