This combination seems to be no accident. Several times this summer, the
great similarity between their songs in phrasing and timbre gave me the
impression that the wrens were deliberately mimicking and competing with the
sparrows. Had the strong hunch there's a deeper dynamic running between
these two species I was simply not scientist enough to see.
