The Seattle Christmas Bird Count will be held this year on

SATURDAY, JANUARY 2, 1999

The plan months ago was to do it a week earlier, but the date had to be
changed because of holiday conflicts.

If you are a past area leader, please contact Gene Hunn
<hunnhome at accessone.com> to get lined up. Anyone who wants to volunteer,
please call the Seattle Audubon office at (206) 523-4483 and leave your
name and number. Someone will get back to you in a timely fashion. We
will be subdividing a lot of the areas to have more parties in the field
for better coverage. Everyone is welcome, beginners and experts alike.

There will be a compilation party and potluck at the end of the day at the
UW's Center for Urban Horticulture; doors open at 4:00 p.m.--hot
beverages, hearty soups and breads and whatever else shows up. All
participants are urged to attend, along with SAS members and anyone who's
interested. Area leaders will report their findings, and after the tally
old-timers will regale us with tall tales from Christmas Birds Counts past,
in an informal program. Lies will also be invited from the floor. Who
knows, there may be prizes.
