On September 30, Nancy LaFramboise, Ruth Fischer, and I (Bob Woodley)
observed 2 RED-NECKED GREBES and an immature RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER in Groves
Park (North Richland)

An immature SABINE'S GULL was found on the western shore of Bateman Island
on October 2 by MerryLynn and Mike Denny.

That same day, Mary Lilga saw a GREAT HORNED OWL and a late COMMON
NIGHTHAWK in Groves Park.

On October 3 and 4, Dennis and Glenda Rockwell, birding at Scootney
Reservoir, found a GREAT EGRET, numerous shorebirds including 4
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, a YELLOW-SHAFTED NORTHERN FLICKER, over 35 AMERICAN
PIPITS, a CHIPPING SPARROW and a male CASSIN'S FINCH.

Dale Litzenberger found a single AMERICAN PIPIT along the road up Jump Off
Joe Butte, south of Kennewick, on October 4.

On October 5, a GREAT EGRET, a SABINE'S GULL and numerous shorebirds were
seen on the Yakima Delta by Nancy LaFramboise, Ruth Fischer, Ron
Louderback, and me (BW)

While on October 6, Ruth Fischer and Laurie Ness found a BARN OWL in WE
Johnson Park.

Over 100 WOOD DUCKS were seen on October 9 in the ditch running into the
Burbank Pumping Plant by Dale Litzenberger.

The GREAT EGRET seen on the Yakima Delta on October 5 remained at least
until October 10. On October 9 it was joined by an AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER,
several other shorebird species, 2 BONAPARTE'S GULL, a WESTERN GULL, 2
COMMON TERNS, and 4 AMERICAN PIPITS.

Lastly on October 10, Craig Corder and Judy Stevens birding at Crow Butte
State Park discovered a NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL near campsite 44, were shown
a MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE (originally found) by Dennis Rockwell, found 5
AMERICAN PIPITS in various locations between Crow Butte and Paterson and
saw a GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW and 2 PINE SISKINS in Paterson.
