About a month ago, I had a startling encounter with a Peregrine in the I-District.

I was at the corner of Main and 7th, below the gardens that terrace up the slope, just west of Park and I-5. I heard a bunch of chickadees making some racket, so I went up the steps into the garden for a look-see. At the top of the second flight or so, there was a loud rustling in the low trees just above my head. I stopped, and a Peregrine flapped out the tree about 10 feet in front of me and lit on a handrail!

It seemed as surprised as I to be face to face........after we eyeballed each other for 20-30 seconds, it took off to a pole, and then to the top of a ~8 story building across the street.

It was a nice looking bird, vivid markings and healthy looking. I didn't notice whether or not it was banded.

This encounter prompted me to sub tweeters.
