Tweeters,
I am fortunate to work on the 50th floor of the Key Tower building downtown.
Depending on where I wonder I have great views of the Olympics, Baker,
Rainier, AND the Washington Mutual Tower Building. Of course my bins travel
with me and I occasionally see one of the Peregrines roosting under the
arches of the building.
Last week I had a great treat when one of the birds flew up an perched right
to the building (Seafirst?) across from my window. A Perfect, close-up
view! She/he sat and preened, looked about, then dropped off the corner and
shot around the building like a flash. Be still my heart! Questions;
Are the adult peregrine pair that nest on the WMTower banded? Are there any
individual characteristics (aside from size) that would help id who is who?
(This bird has an extremely hooked beak, like a hook-billed kite almost!)
Does it seem most likely that this is one of the local residents, or could
it be a migrant or winter resident?
Where do I find the ship canal bridge bird?
Why are British birders called Twitchers?? :)

Another interesting observation: about I month ago we found an active
osprey nest (2 adults) n. of Battlepoint park on Bainbridge island. This
week we went back and the nest had 2 bald eagles perched on it! Have the
osprey left for the season? What is the likelihood of them recovering the
now-bald eagle inhabited nest?
Anyone know anything about this nest?
