Tuesday, 10/20/98, 11:05 a.m. Bob Sundstrom again. Just a footnote to
the previous report. The BAR-TAILED GODWIT was still present at the
marina on Toke Point on October 16, with lots of MARBLED GODWITS.

Tuesday, 10/20/98, 11:00 a.m. Bob Sundstrom, 762.4327, A few reports from
an eight day trip. On the 15th of October on the fish rearing ponds on
hte end of Ediz Hook there was a first winter GLAUCOUS GULL. On the Ocean
Shores Jetty on the 17th there was at least one ROCK SANDPIPER, and on the
pelagic trip on the 18th we had one LAYSAN ALBATROSS with about 180
BLACK-FOOTED ALBATROSS, 1 SKUA. Those were the highlights.

Monday, 10/19/98, 5:52 a.m., Hello, this is Dave Beaudette, 206.365.2083.
On Sunday, 10/18, went hiking north of Snoqualmie Pass on the Pacific
Crest Trail to Kendall Peak. On the West open slope of Kendall Peak at
the 5200 ft. level was a flock of about 40 ROSY FINCHES. That's all for
now. bye.

Sunday, 10/18/98, 11:09 p.m. Hi, this is Steve Mlodinow. This morning,
Dennis Duffy and Ted Peterson had three BROWN PELICANS and a FRANKLIN'S
GULL off the Edmonds fishing pier. Also, Greg Toffic and I this afternoon
went to the Skagit headquarters. We missed all the better birds of
yesterday, but did have a SWAINSON'S THRUSH and a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK.
That's it, good luck and good birding.

Sunday, 10/18/98, 9:38 p.m. Hi, this is Scott Downes, 361.7073. Today at
about 1:00 at Rosario Head, near Anacortes, I had one basic plumage BLACK
LEGGED KITTIWAKE. Other than that, not much around. Good luck and good
birding.

Sunday, 10/18/98, 1:06 p.m. This is Scott Hoskin, 206.789.8990. This
morning, Sunday, at the Montlake Fill, there was one immature GREATER
WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE on athe east side of the central pond.

Sunday, 10/18/98, 11:38 a.m. Hi, this is Allan Knue at 206.706.2550.
This morning at Discovery Park I had a couple birds of interest. First
was the NORTHERN M0CKINGBIRD in the South Bluff area. It was frequenting
the hawthorns in the area, but check all the hawthorns because it seems to
move around a bit. Also, at the point I had between 6 and 8 PARASITIC
JAEGERS and a late WESTERN TANAGER and a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE just west of
the south parking lot area. That's all - good birding.

Saturday, 10/17/98, 9:04 p.m. Hi, this is Steven Mlodinow. Today Jim
Flynn, Dennis Duffy and I birded Whidbey Island and then Fir Island and
the Samish Flats. We had 122 species, the main highlight of which was a
NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH at the Skagit Game Range Headquarters area. Park at
the Boat Launch, walk out the dike that leaves from that parking lot.
It's probably about half way down, so I'm guessing 3/4 of a mile or
something like that. It was calling loudly from a wooded ditchside which
would be on your right as you're walking out. On the other main dike,
which leaves from the other parking lot, most of the way out we had 3
WHITE THROATED SPARROWS, and also in that general vicinity was a TREE
SPARROW. On Whidbey Island, there were 4 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS at the
Northeast corner of Crockett Lake. Also, there was a LESSER YELLOWLEGS
and a SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER among other shorebirds at Crockett. There
was a ROCK SANDPIPER at the mussell platforms at Penn Cove, and first
thing this morning there was a major movement of MEW GULLS & BONAPARTE'S
GULLS past Culpus Bay, MEW GULLS being most abundant: over 2000 in 1/2
hour, headed south into the wind, oddly enough. Lastly, up at Alice Bay
in the Samish Flats area we had an unidentified GOLDEN PLOVER in with some
BLACK-BELLIEDs at high tide. that's about it - good luck and good
birding.

Saturday, 10/17/98, 12:58 p.m. Hi, this is Sam Terry at 206.329.9038.
Today, between 12 and 12'30 I had 2 SCRUB JAYS on the Madison St. side of
the Washington Park soccer field in the Arboretum. There's a little
brambly hillside there, and they were foraging on that with a few ROBINS
and STELLER'S JAYS. That's it; good luck and good birding.
