Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday October 22. If you have anything to add call
Harry Nehls at 233-3976.

On October 19 a BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER was spotted at Minto-Brown Park in
Salem. So far it has not been relocated.

A first year plumaged BALTIMORE ORIOLE was near Summer Lake October 15.
The Summer Lake LITTLE GULL continues to be seen. A BLUE JAY has been
visiting a bird feeder in Bend since October 18.

The LAUGHING GULL continues to be seen at the Bay City Oyster Plant on
Tillamook Bay, but it is highly erratic. It comes and goes during the
day, and on some days it is not seen at all.

The Bullards Beach State Park WILSON'S PLOVER has not been seen during
the week.

A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW and a PALM WARBLER was along Elk River in Curry
County October 15. That day a MOCKINGBIRD was at Gold Beach.

Up to 2 TROPICAL KINGBIRDS and an AVOCET have been at Pony Slough on Coos
Bay during the week. A PRAIRIE FALCON was near there October 19. Another
TROPICAL KINGBIRD was at yachats October 15.

A CLARK'S NUTCRACKER was in the Coast Range east of Toledo October 15.
Another NUTCRACKER and a GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCH was on top of Marys Peak
October 19.

A SNOW BUNTING was on the beach at Gearhart October 18. Seven LAPLAND
LONGSPURS, a PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER, and four PARASITIC JAEGERS were also
seen. Good numbers of LONGSPURS are still at the South Jetty of the
Columbia River.

Many migrant SANDHILL CRANES were reported during the week passing
southward over the Willamette Valley. SHARP-SHINNED HAWKS and HERMIT
THRUSHES were regularly reported from many parts of the state. The large
numbers of VAUX'S SWIFTS are now gone leaving only a few lingering
individuals.

An immature GOSHAWK was at Vancouver, Washington October 16. At least one
BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON has returned to the traditional winter roost in
North Portland during the week. A PRAIRIE FALCON was near North Plains,
west of Portland October 18.

A RED-NECKED and two WESTERN GREBES, and a GOLDEN-PLOVER were at Fernhill
Wetlands in Forest Grove during the week, and on October 17 five TUNDRA
SWANS were back at Jackson Botton in Hillsboro.

A NORTHERN SHRIKE was at Finley NWR October 18. A ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was
reported from the refuge that day. The ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER remains
along Royal Avenue on the east side of Fern Ridge Reservior. Several
KITES are also in the area.

Very large flocks of ROBINS are now moving into Central Oregon. A SURF
SCOTER and a SNOW GOOSE were at Hood River October 17. Another SURF
SCOTER was on the Ontario Sewage Ponds October 15, for the first Malheur
County record.

Thats it for this week.
