Time has passed, birdwatching is supposed to be something that
millions upon millions of Americans now do at least occasionally.

Yet, more often than not, when talking with acquaintances about
hobbies or why we went to sewage ponds on our latest trip,
I explain it by saying, "We're birders."

This is met with a quizzical look and I explain, "Birdwatchers."
and the light goes on.
