See, I knew my orni professor was crazy!! We were actually marked
wrong on tests if our bird names weren't capitalized "properly." It
was so annoying to be marked wrong when you correctly guessed that
the fuzzy gray spot on his slide was a BCNH but spelled it
"Black-Crowned Night-Heron". (Don't bother to defend him, there are
plenty of other nails in that coffin.)
He was also meticulous about hyphens, so now I'm curious, is the use
of hyphens as "standardized" as capitalization?
