This thread has possibly helped to resolve an old question I had about a
Vancouver BC sighting of a large white crane-like bird with black primaries
flying with Sandhill Cranes Grus canadensis over Boundary Bay about seven or
eight years ago. Up until now, I had always suspected it might have been an
off-course Whooping Crane G. americana, but I think now it is more likely to
have been this escapee.
