Some work I have been doing has required me to read a little of the
history of Stanwood. In some quotes of early settlers (1850's),I find
mention of juniper, and even in the Delorme, I see a Juniper Beach. In
my years of birding this area, I have never seen any juniper!

Is there really native juniper in the area? Or did juniper mean
something different then? Any thoughts?
