Sightings for Thursday, October 29th

A MOURNING WARBLER, first discovered on October 26th in the old Cora Brown
subdivision on Sea Island, was relocated today. The bird's persistent, loud
chip note is the best clue to its presence, though its skulking nature
makes it difficult to see in the area's thick brush. To look for this bird,
park at Grauer and McDonald, pass the log barrier, proceed along the lane
and scale the dirt mound to the north. Go past a water-filled white metal
structure, walk to the right along the old roadway and follow the wooden
plank over the ditch. A natural corridor of extremely dense brambles and
maple trees will be straight ahead and the bird is usually found at or near
ground level.

Also on Sea Island, an immature HARRIS' SPARROW was near the orange and
white tower at McDonald Beach and a NORTHERN SHRIKE was near the gas
station at the East end of Grauer road. Two PARASITIC JAEGERS were seen
from the Iona south jetty.

A WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL was coming to a feeder in Burnaby and an ANNA'S
HUMMINGBIRD was seen at 140th Street and 29th Ave in S Surrey.

Sightings for Wednesday October 28th:

The MOURNING WARBLER was seen by many observers in the old Cora Brown
subdivision on Sea Island.

A male BRAMBLING was discovered out-of-town in a yard on Main Street,
Tofino for further information call (250) 725-3783. Whilst on the ferry to
the Island a BROWN PELICAN can still be found in the waters between Active
Pass and Tsawwassen.

A TUFTED DUCK, thought to be either a female or an immature male, was in
the outer pond at Iona. Also at lona, a SNOW BUNTING and a PARASITIC
JAEGER were found at the South Jetty. The 2 MARBLED GODWITS were still at
Beach Grove Lagoon and a HEERMANN'S GULL was with BONAPARTE'S GULLS at the
Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal.

An unsuccessful search was conducted for the WESTERN KINGBIRD, first
reported on October 25th from the foot of 104th. Street in Delta and the
CATTLE EGRET, last seen October 26th on 64th Street at 36th Avenue, Delta.

Sightings for Tuesday October 17th:
The MOURNING WARBLER was again located at the old Cora Brown Subdivision on
Sea Island. In other sightings, two SNOW BUNTINGS and a FRANKLIN'S GULL
were reported from the South Jetty at lona and a CRESTED MYNA was on a line
on 7th Avenue near Garry Point in Steveston.
