Hi tweeters,
After reading Meredeth and Rick's post, we decided to take a quick
(before work) ride Thursday morning to Atkins Lake. The days are still
sunny, but the air is very cool.
Driving along Banks Lake we noticed ducks we have not seen for awhile. A
pair of HOODED MERGANSERS were swimming with the Grebes and Mallards.

Atkins Lake is always interesting. There is a large group of TUNDRA
SWANS at the lake.There was one lone GREAT EGRET, also.

The fields along the way are busy with HORNED LARKS. We were looking for
Lapland
Longspurs, but did not find any.

We came back along Heritage road. We stopped to check a small bird and
Jerry heard
a familiar sound. Flying over head were 8 SANDHILL CRANES. We also saw
one NORTHERN SHRIKE along Heritage road.

Thirty species in all. What a beautiful way to spend the morning.
